I’m told #Marlins looking at Eric Chavez as possible Matt Dominguez insurance at 3B, 1st mentioned by Ken Gurnick
Eric Chavez a few days ago held a workout for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reports say that he had a “better than expected” workout. Chavez is a career .267 hitter with 6 gold gloves. His average has decreased over time do to his injury’s over the past few years, most recently his back. When I look at Chavez I think of when the Marlins signed Jorge Cantu a few years back and how well he responded. I think the team should go after Chavez because he is more likely to produce at the plate that Matt Dominguez would. Dominguez hit in the .250′s last year at Double-A.
